Local SEO in India is one of the last genuinely under-priced marketing channels. Most of your competitors have a Google Business Profile someone's nephew set up in 2019 and a website that hasn't been touched since. That's the opportunity. Here is the four-month sequence we ran for a local services business that took them from invisible to the number-one map result for their main keyword.
Month 1: Fix the foundation before touching content
We started with the unglamorous work: the site was slow on mobile, half the pages had duplicate titles, and the business name, address, and phone number appeared in three different formats across the web. Google reads inconsistency as unreliability.
- Mobile load time cut from 6+ seconds to under 2
- One page per service, each with a unique title and heading written from real search phrasing
- Business name, address, and phone made identical across the website, Google Business Profile, and every directory listing
Month 2: The Google Business Profile becomes a weekly habit
Most businesses treat their profile as a set-and-forget listing. Google treats it as a live signal. We posted weekly updates, added real project photos (not stock), answered every review within 24 hours, and seeded the Q&A section with the ten questions customers actually ask on the phone.
Month 3: Content that answers, not content that fills
We wrote one solid page per week, each targeting one specific question with local intent: 'cost of X in [city]', 'how to choose a Y near me'. No 2,000-word essays for the sake of word count. Every page answered the question in the first paragraph and earned the rest of the scroll.
Month 4: Links from places that make sense
Local link building isn't about buying guest posts from random blogs. We got the business listed with their trade association, mentioned in two local news stories, and linked from suppliers' 'our dealers' pages. A handful of relevant local links beats fifty irrelevant ones.
SEO compounds. The page that ranks this month keeps selling for you next year. That's the whole argument.
By month four, the main money keyword hit position one in the map pack, and enquiry calls from Google roughly tripled. None of the steps above are secret. They're just consistent, and consistency is the moat, because your competitors won't sustain it.
